How it works
GPE’s engagement in partner countries is based on a Partnership Compact that national authorities prepare with the support of partners.
The compact defines focus areas to deliver transformational and sustainable improvements to the education sector. External support – including from GPE – is expected to align with these focus areas.
Eligible countries can apply for the Girls' Education Accelerator in tandem with a system transformation and/or Multiplier grant.
The activities supported by the Girls’ Education Acceleration should build on activities in the other GPE grants, offering targeted, context-specific interventions that help highly marginalized girls access safe, quality education.
An independent rapid learning review has shown that the Girls’ Education Accelerator enabled the setting of ambitious goals and actions related to girls’ education, focusing on system-level change.

- Eligible countries secure support on demand (no specific timeline for requests).
- As of October 2025, all funds have been allocated and eligible countries that met the requirements under GPE 2025 will be prioritized when new funds are available.
- Allocations will be subject to a cap of $10 million per country. Countries are encouraged to apply for the various GPE grants at the same time to maximize impact and alignment, as accessing the Girls’ Education Accelerator does not create new milestones for grant preparation and the collective financing follows the same quality assurance process as any other grant from GPE.
